Around 280 entrants from 15 countries competed in the Volvo Gill Optimist Championships which was held in Largs Yacht Club from the 30th July to the 5th August. The club provided excellent organisation, with more than 100 local volunteers assisting.
Tom Higgins won the Volvo Gill Optimist National and British Open Championship on the 5th of August. Justin Lucas 3rd – Junior Fleet. And Russell Bolger 2nd – Jessica Jordan 3rd – Regatta race. All of whom sail for RSGYC
There is a promising future for Ireland’s young sailors.
