Four boats represented the RSGYC in the 99th running of the prestigious Liverpool Yacht Club Midnight Race/ISORA Race from Liverpool to Douglas Isle of Man and return race from Douglas to a finish gate in the Irish Sea close to the M2 Buoy at the weekend.
In a strongly contested fleet comprising English, Welsh and Irish boats, Vice Commodore Paul Egan on Platinum Blonde scored a third overall and third in Class One in the Friday night race, whilst Chris Power Smith on Aurelia won Class Zero. Lindsey Casey and Denis Power on Windjammer won Class 2.
In the Sunday morning race Aurelia again won Class Zero with a Third overall and Windjammer also notched up a back to back win in Class 2. Leaving both boats topping their classes in the overall ISORA championship. Platinum Blonde just missed out on another podium finish in Class One with a 4th place.
Brendan Coughlan in his first season on his new Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600 scored a very credible 6th in class one on the ISORA Midnight Race and 7th on the race home.
