The inauguration day of the Royal Muglins Golf Society took place on a perfect day in Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on Monday 20th May. There were 28 players with an almost 50/50 mix of ladies and men.
The winner of the ladies competition was Penny Gleeson with Hilliary Williams a close second. Well done girls. Event organiser Shay won the men’s and Johnny Ross Murphy came second, after (according to secret sources) a lot of practice during the week. Well done Johnny.
A mix up on ‘nearest the pin’ by Shay resulted in the prize of a wine box
(2 bottles) being shared between Peter O’ Reilly and Stephen Gillman.
Commodore Peter Bowring fresh from his Dragon Grand Prix win in Duarnenez, played his first game of golf this year, presented the prizes. Former Commodores Aongus O’ Brolchain and Dick Lovegrove also joined the group for dinner. Dick, (instigator of the RSGYC super seniors) and his wife Heather were Shay’s guests.
Shay expects that the next outing will be around the first week in October hopefully in Powerscourt Golf Club…. more of that later.
Shay thanked everyone for attending:
“Thanks to one and all for playing and look forward to our next outing when, as suggested by Isolde McKenna, we will organise a team scramble taking the pressure off the individual and relying more on the team result. Great suggestion Isolde.”
Warmest regards to all,
