On April 23rd, we held a special reception for Sailability athletes, their family, and supporters. This reception celebrated the awarding to Dún Laoghaire's Sailability team the RStGYC Causeway Trophy in recognition of the group's achievements in 2015 and the unwavering sportsmanship they have displayed individually and collectively in the previous twelve months. The Club had the pleasure of welcoming the Royal Dutch Navy into Dublin harbour on the 30th of June 2015. The navy training vessel 'Urania' was passaging through Dublin to refuel and depart for Belfast for the Tall Ships race which took place between the 2nd and 5th of July. The ship's Commanding Officer - Lieutenant Commander Harry Dekkers along with his crew offered our junior sailors and instructors a tour of the naval training vessel. Commodore Justin McKenna and Rear Commodore Sailing Frank O'Beirne accompanied by some of our club instructors presented the Club Burgee to the Dutch training vessels Commanding Officer as a sign of thanks and continued friendship.

The Club hosted a Special Christmas Evening with the fine jeweller Boodles. A Prosecco and canapé reception followed by dinner and a fashion show ensured a great evening for all who attended cumulating in the awarding of a prize of Blossom earrings from Boodles worth €1,600 for lucky winner Eithne O’Grady.

The Royal St. George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire, the 2013 recipient of the Mitsubishi ISA Club of the Year, hosted its principal annual event, the George’s Day Dinner on Saturday, 27th April 2013. This year the celebration was all the more special for it marking the 175th year since the Club was founded. To the delight of guests and Members, Honorary Member, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Executive Chairman and Founder Director of Clipper Ventures Plc was the guest speaker on the night. Sir Robin kept everyone utterly enthralled with his stories of adventure on the high seas. As part of the evenings proceeding at the George’s Day Dinner, Commodore Liam O’Rourke awarded the Jameson Trophy, the Club’s premier trophy which is presented for outstanding contribution; this year’s recipient was Ken Williams who started working for the Club as a contractor overseeing the Forecourt development in the late eighties and has been an integral part of the Club’s fabric for nearly twenty five years, he is much loved by both Members and staff. To the best of their knowledge, it is the first time in its history that the trophy has been awarded to a non-Club Member.

The Royal St. George Yacht Club is delighted to be the 2013 recipient of the Mitsubishi Motors / ISA Sailing Club of the Year. The presentation of the famous Ship’s Wheel Trophy was made by Frank A. Keane, Chairman of Mitsubishi Motors Ireland and Niamh McCutcheon, President of the ISA (Irish Sailing Association) to the Commodore, Liam O’Rourke in the Club on the 3 July.

Hosted by Member Mary Boyd, this was a Fashion Show for the times we live in with a great selection of well priced styles. Our very own George Members modeled the outfits and a charity raffle in aid of the Irish Cancer Society was held. In all, €1,775 was raised for the Irish Cancer Society.

In 2013 we awarded our Club’s prestigious Annual Trophies with all the glitz and glamour of the Oscars. It was a night to remember and a fitting celebration of the great accomplishments of our Members.

On Thursday 6 December the Club celebrated a fantastic festive lunch in association with Appleby Jewellers. Lucky prize winners left with beautiful pieces of jewellery and all monies raised goes directly to the 1-7-5 Renovation Fund. A huge thank you to Appleby Jewellers for their continued support.

The Spinnaker Ball on 20th October 2012 was our biggest yet! Guests donned their finest Black Tie and were welcomed into the beautifully decorated George...including fish bowls of fish at their tables! All enjoyed a Cocktail Reception, sumptuous menu, and old skool games including jenga, foosball and limbo. Music played well into the early hours.
