Wednesdays Schools Sailing – November 2024

This November, we are excited to offer a four-week Schools Sailing program designed to maximize time afloat and provide targeted training based on sailors’ abilities and experience. The program will run on four consecutive Wednesdays and is open to all sailors from schools associated with the RSGYC. Our revised format focuses on enhancing skills while ensuring a fun, engaging experience on the water.

November Program Schedule

  • Session 1: November 6th – Sailors will be assessed and assigned to their most suitable groups by the coaches. Adjustments to group placements may be made as needed.
  • Sessions 2 – 4: November 13, 20, and 27 – Sailors will remain with their designated groups, building on their skills in each session. If weather conditions prevent sailing, shore-based theory sessions will be conducted.

Program Details

  • Session 1: A standalone session, providing sailors an opportunity to be assigned to the most appropriate group for their skill level.
  • Sessions 2 – 4: These sessions are block booked and require sailors to commit to all three dates. Drop-ins are not permitted to ensure consistent group progression and coaching focus.

Given November’s variable weather, sailors will be assigned to groups that best match their skills to ensure both safety and learning effectiveness.

Fleets being utilised

Boats being used for the Schools program will be RSGYC’s fleet of J80 and 1720 keelboats, our fleet of RS Fevas and our Firefly fleet
