Tables are tables of four they cost €80 and include a light supper, making it the perfect opportunity to enjoy a great night out while supporting a very worthy cause.

Ever wondered how to think, rather than what to think? Join us for Why Philosophy Matters Today, an informal and engaging introduction to philosophy at the Royal St George Yacht Club.

Over six weeks, enjoy thought-provoking talks and conversations with guest speakers, including Dr Susan Gottlobber from Maynooth University. Explore big questions, challenge your assumptions, and discover new ways of looking at the world — all in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Sessions take place every Thursday at 7pm, starting 8th October, with each evening including a talk and supper.

€25 per session, including supper and the talk.

Celebrating our 50^th anniversary, Dalkey Scubadivers and the RNLI are presenting “The Magic Beneath the Waves”, an exhibition of photographs that will showcase the work of award-winning underwater photographers from Ireland, celebrating the beauty, fragility, and mystery of the world beneath the waves. Tickets are available on Eventbrite or at the door on the day.

The event will raise funds for the RNLI and Dalkey Scubadivers. The RNLI is well known for saving lives at sea. Dalkey Scubadivers carry out Search and Recovery operations where, sadly, people go missing at sea or in inland waterways. In addition, the club’s instructors provide their services free of charge, making the sport of scuba diving as accessible as possible to anyone who wants to give it a go.

The exhibition aims to draw diverse audiences from marine enthusiasts and conservationists to art collectors and families and to spark public conversation about ocean stewardship. The programme includes talks from the RNLI on water safety and from members of Dalkey Scubadivers and Green Ocean Foundation on ocean conservation, ecology and the photographs themselves. The exhibition will also feature information on our “Try a Dive” programme.

As one of Ireland’s premier maritime hubs, Dún Laoghaire is home to a community that lives and breathes the sea. We believe the exhibition will bring the underwater world to the surface. resonate strongly with your family and enhance your appreciation of Ireland’s coastal heritage.

Performance, Concussion & Recovery

Tuesday 20 October | 7.00pm

For Junior & Youth Sailors, Parents and Coaches

The Royal St. George Yacht Club is delighted to welcome the UPMC Sports Medicine team for an engaging and practical workshop designed to support the development, health and wellbeing of our junior and youth sailors.

Whether you are competing regularly, training towards your next event or simply looking to develop as an athlete, understanding how to stay healthy, recover effectively and perform at your best is an essential part of long-term sporting success.

The evening will begin with an important session on concussion awareness, helping sailors, coaches and parents understand how to recognise the signs and symptoms of concussion, what to do if an injury occurs, and the principles of safe return to sport. The UPMC team will explain why athletes should never continue to train or compete while experiencing concussion symptoms and how proper management plays a vital role in long-term health.

The workshop will also explore strength and conditioning for sailing, focusing on the physical qualities that help sailors perform on the water. Areas covered will include:

• Core strength and stability
• Balance and coordination
• Mobility and flexibility
• Power and athletic development
• Injury prevention strategies

There will be practical demonstrations of exercises that junior and youth sailors can incorporate into their training routines both on and off the water.

The final section of the evening will focus on recovery and training load management, covering topics such as:

• Sleep and recovery
• Hydration and nutrition
• Mobility and stretching
• Rest and training balance
• Recovery after racing, training and travel

Sailors will leave with practical techniques and habits that can be applied immediately to support performance and reduce injury risk throughout the season.

The evening will conclude with an open Q&A session with the UPMC clinicians and Strength & Conditioning Coach, providing an opportunity for sailors, parents and coaches to ask questions on performance, injury prevention, concussion management and athlete development.

This promises to be a valuable and informative session for everyone involved in junior and youth sailing, and we encourage sailors, parents and coaches alike to attend. This is a complimentary talk but we do please ask that you register using the link below so that we can manage numbers.
