Vintage Car Rally 2026 – Photo Gallery

Last Sunday’s vintage car and bike rally at the Royal St. George was a resounding success, bringing together enthusiasts and spectators for a truly memorable day. The event began with a gathering of beautifully maintained classic cars at the club, creating a vibrant and nostalgic atmosphere.

From there, participants set off on a scenic drive to Greenan Maze in Co. Wicklow, enjoying the journey as much as the destination. The route showcased both the elegance of the vehicles and the stunning countryside, making for a highlight of the day.

Following the outing, everyone returned to the club where a delicious lunch was served, providing the perfect opportunity to relax, share stories, and celebrate the occasion. Overall, the rally was a wonderful display of community spirit, passion for vintage vehicles, and excellent organisation—an event that will surely be remembered and eagerly anticipated again next year.

Code Of Practice For The Safe Operation Of Recreational Craft

Published by the Department of Transport, the Code of Practice for the Safe Operation of Recreational Craft is an essential resource for anyone using the water for leisure. It provides practical safety information, advice, and best practice guidance for owners, operators and users across a wide range of craft operating in Irish coastal and inland waters.

The Code covers a broad spectrum of activities, including sailing craft, motorboats, angling boats, personal watercraft such as jet skis, rowing boats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, windsurfers, foiling and kitesurfing craft, as well as non-powered vessels.

A key feature of the document is the “Think and Prepare” safety checklists, designed to help users plan ahead before going afloat. These encourage individuals to consider their activity in advance, ensure they have appropriate training and safety equipment, and understand what actions to take in an emergency.

The Code is structured in a clear and practical format. It begins with a general introduction and safety checklists, followed by Part A outlining the legal requirements applicable to different types of craft. Part B provides recommended guidelines and best practice for safe operation. Additional appendices cover important topics such as radiocommunications, collision prevention, weather, lifejackets, passage planning, buoyage and anchoring.

The Code of Practice is available free of charge. You can download a copy here or please call to Irish Sailing office to pick up a hard copy. The Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland — Ireland’s leading gardening charity.

It was founded in 1816, with its inaugural meeting taking place on 30 September 1816 at the Rose Tavern in Donnybrook, Dublin. Its membership spans both professional and amateur gardeners.

The Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland runs lectures, workshops, plant sales, flower shows, demonstrations and exhibitions. Members get free or half-price entry to more than 50 partner gardens around Ireland, plus garden visits and organised tours both in Ireland and abroad. They also publish the RHSI Journal, which focuses on gardening advice suited to the Irish climate.
