SUMMARY:Dun Laoghaire Youth Laser training
DESCRIPTION:The Dun Laoghaire Youth Laser training program will be run as a collaboration between RSGYC and NYC.\nWe are fortunate to have two excellent local coaches head up the program: Conor O’Beirne will be running the 4.7’s and we have Nicole Hemeryck on the Radials. We intend grouping sailors to maintain a coach:sailor ratio of around 6 and expect to have around 3 groups in the 4.7’s and potentially 2 in the radials. \nA group of up to 30 sailors will allow for “big fleet” coaching and also bring a social aspect to the program. \nModules\nThe program comprises 4 modules which are elective – sailors can pick and choose between the following modules: \n\n\n\n\n	ModuleDatesCost €\n\n\n\n\n	1: Base Program9 Sundays (Sept- Nov)229\n\n\n	2: Weekend ClinicOct 6-752\n\n\n	3: Mid-term ClinicOct 29-Nov 2142\n\n\n	4: Christmas regattaNov 24-25TBC\n\n\n	5: UK NE Youth Championship  Yorkshire Dales SC Nov 3-4TBC\n\n\n\n\n The program is designed for sailors who\, at minimum\, have competed in regional events (in any boat) and intend to participate in the regional laser circuit in 2019. The program will be managed by our coaches and they will be the first point of contact. The overall philosophy of the group is that it is sailor driven and not parent driven. \nModule 1 Sign up- click here. \n\nDL YOUTH LASER CLINIC – Completed.\n\nFurther details are available by contacting:\n\nRSGYC Parent: Robbie Walker – Robbie.e.walker@gmail.com\nNYC Parent: Clodagh Nolan – clodagh.m.nolan@gmail.com\n4.7 Coach: Conor O’Beirne – Conorobeirneis@gmail.com\nRadial Coach: Nicole Hemeryck – nicole.hemeryck@gmail.com\n\nThe program is open to all full and country members of either RIYC\, RSGYC or NYC with boat parking paid.

SUMMARY:George Oppie Coaching
DESCRIPTION:01 March 2019 \nA note from the Optimist Class Captain- Brendan Foley\nFirstly\, if you want your child to be able to compete in a race and have general competence in a boat then coaching is essential. A two-week sailing course in the Summer is just not enough\, like all other sports the more time you spend on the water the better you become\, while at the same time building friendships and having fun. We have 5 buddies who are all just back from Baltimore Oppie training week who started the race training last year in the club and they are all buzzed as well as filling 4 of the top 5 places at the regatta. (Sales pitch over!) \nOur training goal; that the sailor can compete and enjoy sailing in a regional Optimist Championship and or the National Championships. (We have a Nationals and 2 regions event on the North side of Dublin this year so a great opportunity for your participation). \nWe will have two training groups; \nImprover Oppie\nAimed at those starting in Oppies and who can sail a three-point course (beat\, reach\, run). They will be taught how to start and complete a race by friendly and attentive coaching staff. At the end of the coaching they will be able to race in Regatta Fleet at the regional championships and local regattas. \nRegatta/Main Fleet Oppie\nAimed at those who are more advanced\, have raced and will be sailing at IODAI (International Optimist Dinghy Association of Ireland) Events. They will be taught racing techniques by motivated and skilled coaches. \nIf you are not sure which group your child should be in\, please contact me. We reserve the right to move people up and down in each group so that we can ensure each child gets the right level of support. We will have a very good coach to sailor ratio and the coaches will give you an update as to what group best suits your child as we go. \nDates\nWe will run 3 programmes. \n\nMarch – 10th\, 17th\, 24th\, 31st / €120\nApril – 7th\, 21st\, 28th (no sailing 14th as Club lift in) / €85\nMay – 5th\, 12th\, 19th\, 26th / €120\n\nEach program needs to be booked in full and if the weather is too bad to sail the coaches will run land based theory and rigging practice. \nBooking link: Click here \nFormat\n1300 Sailor arrives fed (Arrive at 1230 if you need rigging assistance) \n1330 Fully rigged and launched \n1530 Back off water and debrief \n1600 Collect sailor and help them put their boat away \nEquipment Required\n+ Optimist in full working order\, with 2 bailers\, paddle and painter (tow rope) \n+ Snacks and water in a dry bag \n+ Warm sailing gear\, sailing gloves\, hat (no shorty wetsuits) \nParental Support\nWe are all volunteers providing this training so we need parental support specifically; \n+ Have your child there on time and collected on time. \n+ All parents will be asked to do shore parent for one training session (on land safety person) \n+ Help your sailor rig if they are inexperienced \nFinally\, I cannot express how much my kids have gained from the friends\, fun\, knowledge and competition that the Royal St George Oppie training have given us. So we would love to see you and your little sailor there. \nWHAT YOU NEED TO DO\nPlease respond to this note if you intend to take up on Programme A\, B\, C or all / combination – include your sailor name and age please. \nAny questions – give me a buzz 087 6292324 \nClick here to book onto training. \nYours in sailing\, \nBrendan Foley- Optimist Class Captain \n++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
