DESCRIPTION:End of Season Race- quick… enter now!\nJoin together to celebrate the end of another wonderful sailing season at this year’s Annual End of Season Pursuit Race. \nThis is truly one of the Club’s most enjoyable events as it is run solely for the Members of the Royal St. George Yacht Club and is a fantastic opportunity for all of the Club’s Sailing Classes to come together to enjoy some competitive rivalry! Not to mention that the day has been changed to Friday. \nEntry is free and racing will begin from 6pm onwards followed by a Prize Giving. There will be many special prizes to be won on the day including awards for Day Boats\, Wooden Boats\, and ‘Best Dressed Boat Overall’ and even ‘Best Greeting to the Committee Boat’. There will also be the annual RNLI collection on the night. \n \nHandicaps will be assigned very soon so please click here to enter now. \nSailing Instructions will be emailed out to all entrants.  \nWould you like to assist with the End of Season Race?\nPlease join us aboard the Committee Boat where your assistance will be most welcome (why not bring along some ‘refreshments’ to aid the crew). SUMMARY:29'er Class Weekend Coaching Clinics
DESCRIPTION:The Matt McGovern and Sean Donnelly led 29er Clinics will be held on the following dates. \n\nFebruary 2nd & 3rd\nFebruary 16th & 17th\nMarch 2nd & 3rd\nApril 27th & 28th\n\nTimes 10am to 5:00pm each day.\nThe cost for each of the weekend clinics are: €205 p/ team (Helm & crew). \nThe clinics are open to sailors from all clubs currently sailing as part of a 29’er crew (a team).\nSailors must be sailing regularly as part of a 29’er team\, have their own boat or be crewing on a boat.\nThe clinic is based on a ratio of 4 boats to 1 coach (Intermediate Sailors) and 3:1 for New to the 29’er Class sailors to ensure a high level of coaching and support. \nPlease bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. A notebook and pen are also required\, as well as plenty of warm clothes as it can be very cold at this time of year.\nIf available places fill up\, we will look to find an additional coach so that more places can be made available. \nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:VHF Radio Course   \n \nThe RSGYC in partnership with Sea- Craft will be running a VHF Radio course on  the evening of November 11th @ 6.00pm and all day November 12th starting at 9.00am.  \nA Marine VHF radio is a vital piece of safety equipment aboard a boat. \nThe  Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a vessel. This includes both fixed and handheld equipment with and without Digital Selective Calling (DSC). It is obtained by successfully completing and SRC exam conducted at a Recognised Training Centre. \nMost candidates are required to complete an  SRC course prior to taking the exam\, therefore the majority of exams take place after marine radio SRC courses.  \nThis SRC course is classroom based. There is no age limit for taking the SRC course although exam candidates must be 16 years old on the day of the exam. \nCourse subjects include: \n\nroutine operation of marine VHF radio including Digital Selective Calling\nthe correct VHF channels (frequencies) to be used for each type of communication\ndistress\, emergency and medical assistance procedures\nship to shore communication\npractical use of Marine VHF DSC radios\nGlobal Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)\nEmergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)\nSearch and Rescue Transponders (SART)\n\nThe exam\nThe exam is a combination of a written theory test and practical assessment in the use of Marine VHF DSC radios. Dublin.\nThe nomination and selection of invitees is in accordance with the Notice of Race published on the Irish Sailing website and will be overseen by a Steering Group appointed by the Board of Irish Sailing.\nClasses are invited to nominate up to three nominees. When a national championship has not been completed by the Closing Date for nominations then a class ranking on that date may be used. Nominations will be only accepted from classes whose affiliation fee is paid for 2018.\nClass associations are also invited to suggest candidates for a Wild Card place; these would be members who have excelled at an International competition in the class during the year.\nThe age limit for the Junior Sailing Championships is under 19 years of age by 31st of December 2018. DESCRIPTION:The International 12ft Dinghy and DBSC 12ft Irish Championships\, a very important regatta.\nThe fourth annual event in recent years\, representing the revival of Ireland’s first international class of dinghy. \nDesigned in 1912- despite appearing to be relatively slow or old-fashioned\, the class is organized by a very enthusiastic group of boat owners.  \n Notice of race 2018\nLarge fleets were once located in Baltimore\, Cork Harbour\, Howth\, Sutton\, Dublin Bay and other Irish sailing venues.\nWe are still trying to find the boats which might be hiding in sheds and garages around the country. \n  \n \n  \n\n
