Start The Summer Sailing Season Cruise – 2016

Sunday, May 8th will see the inaugural RSGYC Start the Season Sail where Members, family, and friends are invited to join fellow Club Members and crews for a leisurely Sunday sail to mark the start of the sailing season in a fun filled way.

There will be starts in the harbour mouth between an orange mark and a rib, which will be the Committee boat. The plan is that each boat/class will start at 3 minute intervals, depending on the boat type, with slower boats taking off first followed by the faster boats allowing boats to return to the Club approximately at the same time and to the BBQ and meet & greet on the Quarterdeck after sailing.

Notes: (subject to weather)

Briefing at 12:30 on the main deck when all skippers/crew can collect the ‘Communication Form’ – which will have a list of questions with answers to be returned after sailing.

Courses: There will be separate courses for slow and fast boats.

Course A – Inner Course is, through the harbour mouth, around a laid mark outside the harbour to starboard, through Dalkey sound, leave Dalkey island to port, leave laid harbour mark to port, finish line within harbour.

Course B – Outer Course is, through the harbour mouth, around harbour mark to starboard, through Dalkey sound, Killiney outfall mark to port, Dalkey island to port, leave harbour mark to port, finish line within the harbour.
