Team George Sea Squirts & Tigers
We are delighted to welcome young sailors back for another exciting summer of Sea Squirts & Tigers at the club. Our programme is designed to introduce children to sailing in a fun, safe, and supportive environment while helping them build confidence and develop their skills on the water.
Sea Squirts is the perfect starting point for our youngest sailors, and no boat is required—the use of a club boat is included as part of the course.
Sea Tigers continue to build on these foundations, spending more time on the water, developing boat-handling skills, and preparing to progress through the Irish Sailing training pathway and Sailing Passport modules. Tigers also do not need to have their own boat, with club boats available for the programme.
Our summer courses offer flexible options to suit families, with morning sessions (9:30–13:30) as well as full-day programmes available, combining sailing, skills development, and plenty of fun on and off the water.
Sailors must be fully dressed in appropriate and, most importantly, warm sailing clothing. Parents are not required to stay, but we ask that the parents come back to help their children out of their wetsuits.
Boat parking is not included in the price. If you plan on keeping a boat at the Club a Dinghy Parking application should be completed. This can be requested from the Sailing Office.
Whether your child is taking their first steps into sailing or continuing their journey, Team George provides an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all.

Sea Squirts
Our youngest groups, starting from 6 years old. No experience is required to join this group. This group sail in the Club Mirrors with our instructors. The aim of this group is to build confidence in and around the water.
Sea Tigers
This group is for sailors aged between 8-10. These sailors will use their own Optimists or a rented club Optimist. Often, sailors will share a boat with another Sea Tiger. This group aims to learn the basics of sailing informally.
* Please note that if your child/children completed the Tigers course last year, they can be booked onto our Junior Summer Sailing courses under the ‘Start Sailing’ module. RSGYC courses are available to Club members only.
